President Ghani’s first vice president, General Abdul Rashid Dostum has insisted on Coalition for Salvation of Afghanistan importance in the upcoming elections in a recent meeting with Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Turkey’s President.

The coalition was formed several months ago in Turkey by General Dostum, Ata Mohammad Noor, the governor of Balkh and Mohammad Mohaqiq, the second deputy of Chief Executive after the tensions worsened between them and Afghan National Unity government (NUG).

But the three major political opponents of NUG have yet to announce the presence of this coalition inside the country.

“Mr. Erdoğan promised to take measures on providing settlements to the undocumented Afghan refugees and education for their children in Turkey”, Enayatullah Babur Farahmand, the chief of staff at Afghan Vice President stated in a statement issued late yesterday.

According to the statement, the meeting was held yesterday’s afternoon, November 17, inside Turkey’s Presidential Palace in Ankara, the country’s capital.

General Dostum has reportedly gone on exile to Turkey after he was accused of sexual assault on a former rival Ahmad Ishchi.
However, Shah Hussain Murtazavi, the acting deputy spokesperson of Afghan president has recently expressed hope for Dostum’s return back to the country.
