Draft Budget of 1396 Submitted to Upper House for Approval: MPs
Minister of Finance Iklil Hakimi urged the draft budget of 1396 has been prepared based on the development programs where most of the budget will be spent on improving of the infrastructure of the Afghanistan.
He has demanded the Upper house of the parliament to review the budget in coming two weeks, and send it back to the lower house for further processing.
Officials in Ministry of Finance said the amount of budget for 1396 is 466 billion Afghani, where 287 billion Afghani is common budget and 178 billion of the budget has been allocated for development programs, the main priority in the draft has been given to security and infrastructure which indicates 36 percent for security and 21 percent for infrastructure.
Minister of Finance Iklil Hakimi said, “The budget for 1396 contains development programs which includes growing of the economy, raising the capacity of Ministerial departments on consumption of the budget, commitments of the Afghan Government against International community, Afghan National development framework.”
Further he insisted that the major part of the budget has been allocated for Infrastructure 94 billion Afghani, Agriculture 26 billion Afghani, Rural Development 20 billion Afghani, and for Education and Health 15,5 billion Afghani.
It’s mentionable that 117 new big, mid and small projects were included in our National Plan for upcoming year, even some of the projects are new in the budget of 1396.
Mr. Hamiki urged that despite of the commitments made, the consumption of the budget problem still remains and it has affected the National budget of the country.
Earlier members at the lower house of the parliament had criticized the Ministers who failed to spend 70 percent of the allocated development budget for the year of 1395, soon will be summoned .
