EU pledges € 41 million to support Afghanistan’s health sector

European Union in Afghanistan pledges € 41 million to support essential health services and provide malnutrition services for Afghan people through ministry of public health, an EU statement released on Monday says.

According to the statement the health program aims to promote the capacity of Afghanistan’s ministry of health to provide comprehensive health services to the people of Afghanistan.

The services mainly focuses to increase women and children access to maternal and child health services, improve protection from medical equipments, modernize the labs, control the quality of health services and strengthening the human resource section of Afghanistan’s health sector.

The statement adds, the fund is an addition to € 61.5 million aid of the EU which was promised during 2013 to support Afghanistan’s health program.
