Former minister of trade and commerce Muhammad Amin Farhang has rejected the embezzlement charges against him as baseless.

Recently, the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) revealed names of five ex-ministers accused of embezzling millions of dollars, and asked for their prosecution.

Foreign minister of trade and commerce Muhammad Amin Farhang, foreign ministers of Transport and Aviation Enayatullah Qasimi and Hameedullah Qadiri, foreign minister of Mines Sideeq Eishan and foreign minister of economy Jalil Shams were accused of huge corruption.

Attorney General Muhammad Ishaq Aloko has said there were strong evidences of embezzlement of millions of dollars by these foreign ministers.

Foreign trade minister Muhammad Amin Farhang, however, rejected the accusations as baseless, saying the Attorney General’s claims had political motive.

Farhang added once he was accused of corruption about four years ago but he proved the accusations as baseless and still he was ready to fight against the accusation.

“I will answer this baseless claim,” Farhang told Ariana News. “I strongly reject this accusation.”

It is the second step by the new government to bring former corrupt government official to the court after President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai directed the Attorney General to reopen the case of Kabul Bank crises.
