Afghan farmers in many parts of the northern areas of Afghanistan say, recently these areas witnessed rare raining that affected their harvests.

The farmers ask the ministry of agriculture to provide them with water caches.

“The government does not pay attention to our problem. We receive a limited amount of water,” A farmer said.

“If we don’t access enough water to our lands, our harvest would get destroyed.” One farmer noticed.

Officials in ministry of agriculture meanwhile inform that the lack of standard canals, bumpy lands and unfair water division process have caused the problems.

“We are trying to build up standard irrigation networks to resolve current unfair water distribution system,” Lotfullah Rashid, spokesperson for ministry of agriculture told Ariana News.

Water distribution has been one of the core obstacles along the way of farmers during past 17 years.

However, the government has established 157 irrigation networks so far with 46 more to be established by the end of this year.
