Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief, Mawlana Fazlur Rehman, is scheduled to leave for Kabul on Sunday for talks with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) on how Islamabad can move forward on the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) situation.

Pakistan’s The Tribune reported that Rehman’s religious influence could help ease tensions between the IEA and Islamabad.

The spokesman for the Islamic Emirate Zabihullah Mujahid, meanwhile confirmed in a post on X on Sunday that Rehman is scheduled to visit Kabul.

An 11-member delegation, headed by the JUI-F chief and including former South Waziristan MNA Maulana Jamaluddin Mehsud, Mufti Ibrar and members of the Haqqani religious seminary, will visit Kabul at the invitation of the IEA’s supreme leader Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, The Tribune reported.

Relations between the IEA and Islamabad have been tense for the past few months. Pakistan has repeatedly accused the IEA of harboring TTP insurgents, who have been responsible for numerous attacks in the neighboring country.

The IEA however has denied these claims.
