At least five policemen and three students were injured following two consecutive explosions in eastern Khost province of Afghanistan on Wednesday.

Security chief of police in Khost, Ghani Ul Rahman, said the first explosion targeted a police vehicle in southern part of the city at around 11:00 a.m. which left three policemen wounded.

He further added that the second explosion occurred when police arrived at the site of the first explosion in which another two policemen and three students were injured.

The causalities included one police officer, 4 policemen and three children, the source added.

No group including the Taliban has so far claimed responsibility behind the attacks.

Khost is among the relatively restive provinces in eastern Afghanistan, where militants from the Taliban group and Haqqani Network are operating in a number of its districts.
