Forming Coalition Not in Interest of Country in Current Situation: Senate

The Upper House of Parliament, Senate calls the recent coalition formed by government officials “shameful”, saying it is not in interest of the country in the current situation.

Chairman of the Senate said the system needs support in the current situation and we should not let enemies to interfere in our country’s affairs.

“The recent coalition made by government officials is very shameful and it is not good to form coalition against the system,” said Fazlul Hadi Muslim Yar, Chairman of the Upper House.

“People are no longer deceived, we do not have any alternative except Taliban and Daesh in the current situation and there is no need for forming coalition against the system,” said Muhammad Asef Sidiqi, second deputy speaker of the Upper House.

In the meantime, a number of other Senators welcomed the formation of new coalition and considered it in interest of the country.

Senator Safiullah Hashemi said, “We support coalitions which are for reforms and changes.”

Senator Gul Ahmad Azami said, “If the bases of the system weakens, the bases of stability will be eliminated and currently the alternative for government is just Taliban and IS group.”

Leaders of Afghanistan’s three political parties, all of whom hold senior positions in the government, announced from Turkey Saturday that they have formed a coalition to save Afghanistan from chaos, issued a list of demands for reforms by President Ghani, and vowed to hold mass protests unless they are met.
