Four passengers were killed and four others wounded after a car collided with a tanker in Samangan-Balkh highway, the local health officials in northern Afghanistan said Tuesday.

Reports suggest that all the casualties are young men who are residents of Samangan province.

According to the officials, the wounded people have been taken to Abu Ali Sina Balkhi hospital for treatment, but their health condition was reported as critical.

Immediately it was not clear what exactly caused the incident.

However, police authorities said that they have started investigation of the incident.

Accidents are common in Afghanistan’s highways where roads are often in a poor state.

Most of the traffic accidents are basically because of the carelessness, high speed driving, insufficiency of traffic signs, and bad condition of the roads.
