Germany pledges $ 5 million for Afghanistan water resources management

The German government has announced a $ 5.3 million aids for reforms and water sources management in Afghanistan.

The agreement of this project has been signed between Afghan minister of economic and German representative in Kabul.

Afghan economic minister, Abdul Satar Murad has considered this aid valuable and important; citing with implementation of this project a large number of water resources will be reformed and managed.

Since the beginning of 2002, Germany has made a key contribution to reconstruction in Afghanistan.

Germany’s development assistances will continue up to 2017 that includes the development and reconstruction sectors.

Germany is currently the third most important donor for Afghanistan. The Federal Republic has invested some 2 billion euro in development cooperation with the strife-torn country since 2002. About 75 % of that money was from the BMZ budget.
