Ghani arrives in Iran to ink Chabahar Port agreement

President Ashraf Ghani arrived in Tehran after a two-day visit in Qatar for signing the Chabahar agreement on establishment of an international transport and transit corridor.

Afghan President will ink the agreement together with his Iranian and Indian counterparts in Tehran the capital of Iran today.

According to the Afghan government media and information center, Ghani will hold separate meetings with Hassan Rouhani the President of Iran, Narendra Modi the Prime Minister of India and with Ayatullah Khameai the Supreme Leader of Iran to discuss the enhancement and strengthening of relations between Afghanistan, Iran and India.

Chabahar is situated on the Makran Coast of the Sistan and Baluchestan province of Iran and is officially designated as a Free Trade and Industrial Zone by Iran’s government. Due to its free trade zone status, the city has increased in significance in international trade.
