Ghani Departs for Formal Visit of Australia, Indonesia, Singapore

President Ashraf Ghani left Kabul for a formal visit of Australia, Indonesia and Singapore late on Saturday.

A press release from President Ghani’s office said the President will discuss strengthening of relations between Afghanistan and heads of states during his visit.

The statement did not provide more details, but earlier Afghanistan’s embassy in Australia in a statement said that the President has been invited by the Australian PM Malcolm Turnbull.

The embassy added that the agenda of the visit is to expand bilateral cooperation in the areas of trade, mines, agriculture, investment and higher education and both sides will also sign an agreement on development of mines.

According to the statement, Abdul Satar Murad Minister of Economy, Nargis Nehan Acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum, Amanullah Ghalib Deputy Minister of Energy and Water, Shah Zaman Maiwand Wal Senior Advisor to the President in Public Relations and Strategic Affairs and Abdul Hamid Helmandi a Presidential Advisor are accompanying the President.
