President Ashraf Ghani on Saturday strongly rejected the claims of support for Daesh or Islamic State militant group within the government machinery.

“Anyone who makes claims that high ranking government officials have links with Daesh, should bring those allegations to court,” Ghani said.

The president made the remarks at a ceremony in Kabul to transfer control of border police from Interior Ministry to Defense Ministry.

Ghani stated that nine districts of the country have been cleared of Daesh, where the group had hideouts, adding that Daesh is on the run.

Commanding the efforts of Afghan security forces in fight against terrorism, Ghani, meanwhile, stated that Afghanistan will have a national and strong security and defense forces within the next four years.

Based on Ghani’s authorization, the control of about 19 thousand Afghan Border Forces is being transferred from Interior Ministry to Defense Ministry.
