Afghan government launched the first National Employment Program on Tuesday.

President Ghani says this program will cover all rural and cities around the country and thousands of people will be employed through the rural development programs.

“4,700 villages will be covered starting today and till spring about 15,000 villages will be covered under this program,” Ghani said during the inauguration of the program,” the main goal of this program is that a large number of our citizens are going to be employed to clean the cities”.

Another plan of the government for providing employment opportunities is to build water dams for producing power.

Afghan president promises that during the next 12 months about seven water dams will be constructed in the country and power production will be doubled.

“During the next twelve months about 17 large and medium dams Insha Allah will be build, we have identified the budget for these programs partially and we are working seriously to seek more funds for this program,” Ghani said.

Ghani says the government will provide more employment opportunities in the long term especially for the Afghan youths. He believes the reasons why unemployment have increased in the country is the withdrawal of foreign forces from Afghanistan and intensification of the ongoing war in the country.

This comes as thousands of Afghans youths daily flee from the country for poor economy and lack of employment  opportunities.
