Ghani Off to Turkmenistan to Attend Global Conference on Sustainable Transport

President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on the head of a high level delegation has traveled to Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, for a three-day official visit, a statement from Presidential Palace said late on Friday.

During the visit, the president of Afghanistan would participate in a global conference on “Sustainable Transport” which will be chaired by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.

The statement further said that President Ghani would address the inaugural ceremony of Asia Global Railway line Atamurad-Imam Nazar between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan’s Aqina district.

During the trip the president would hold separate meetings with different heads of the States including the president of Turkmenistan and Gurjistan in which issues of bilateral relations and regional concern would be discussed.

According to the statement the Afghan leader would also visit exhibition of Turkmenistan products, Olympic city and garment factory. In addition he would address Ashqabad International Institutes.

On this trip, President Ghani has been accompanied by the Finance Minister Eklil Hakimi, Transportation and Civil Aviation Minister Mahmadullah Batash, Public Works Minister Mahmood Balegh, Director General of Administrative Office of the President Abdul Salam Rahimi, Chief Advisor of the President on Infrastructure and Technology Mohammad Humayon Qayoumi and Presidential Spokesman Muhammad Haroun Chakhansoury.
