President Muhammad Ashraf Ghani in his visit to Helmand province has said to not accept a fraud and trickery peace talks.

President Ghani has emphasized that the Taliban group with their cowardly attack on civilians including journalists once again showed their weakness.

Ghani in a meeting with local officials and Helmand inhabitants vowed to provide the overall security of this province and make further efforts in fighting against insurgents and land grabbers.

He also talked about the National Unity Government’s serious combat against corruption.

Meanwhile, Helmand residents have also urged President Ghani to stand by his commitments.

President Ghani’s visit to Helmand comes as an American photojournalist and Afghan interpreter working for U.S.-based National Public Radio were killed on Sunday afternoon after their vehicle came under fire in Helmand province.

David Gilkey, 50, and Zabihullah Tamanna, 38, were on assignment and traveling with the Afghan army near Taliban-contested Marjah district in Helmand province when their vehicle was hit by “shellfire”.
