A member of the Enlightenment Movement on Wednesday said that they are willing to negotiate with the government if it is based on a ‘principle’.

“First of all, the government must accept to negotiate with us based on a principle. We should reconcile on a principle and identify the date, place, and the negotiating commission,” Daoud Naji, a member of the movement said.

The new remarks come after a planned demonstration for last Monday was cancelled one day prior due to security threats and the protest organizers met with President Ashraf Ghani, and his national security adviser Hanif Atmar.

Last year, the movement protest was targeted by two suicide bombers that left at least 85 people dead.

Naji is insisting that they will not deal with the government.

The movement is protesting the decision to route a power project through Salang, rather than Bamyan.
