Gov’t has no Political will to protect environment: NEPD

Officials in National Environment Protection Department ( NEPD) stated that Government of Afghanistan has no Political will to protect the environment from ruining.

They have declared ignoring law, poor coordination, cultural poverty, no capacity within the Governmental departments are counted as the major problems for the National environment protection department.

Fresh air and healthy environment is one of the desires of the Afghans, where residents in the capital city of Kabul can’t access that.

Head of the National Environment Protection Department Kazim Humayon said,” ignoring the law, cultural poverty, no political will, and insecurity and no clear policy and poor coordination within the departments are counted as the major problems for the National environment protection department.”

He went on further said,” the pollution graph is high in Kabul city, having no urban system, overflowing of population, no water system, canalization, filtration of water, no garbage management, and no plan for the whole city have caused the pollution graph goes high in the capital city of Kabul.”

Earlier Minister of Public health has urged that one of the major problems for increasing of pollution in Kabul city is overflowing of the Afghan citizens from other provinces,there are seven million residents are living in Kabul which is created problems for the environment.
