Nai, an organization supporting open media in Afghanistan says the government is attempting to hide the actual facts behind the deadly attacks in the country by not giving access to information.

“Government wants to hide the facts by not giving access to information and to aiming to show the level of incidents smaller than the actual,” said Sediqullah Tawhidi, the head of Nai.

Afghanistan Journalist Center (AFJC); however, said that government is trying to make up for administrative weaknesses in the institutions by hiding the facts.

“Management weaknesses can be seen within the government institutions, but the government should provide accurate information to the public,” said Ahmad Quraishi, AFJC’s executive director.

This comes as close to 200 soldiers were killed and about 100 more injured in Taliban’s attack on Shaheen 209 military corps in northern Balkh province. The attack was marked the deadliest since 2001.
