Gunmen Attack New Kabul Bank Branch in Paktia
A number of gunmen launched a coordinated attack on New Kabul Bank branch in Gardez city, the capital of Paktia province on Saturday afternoon, killing 2 people and injuring at least 29 others.
Provincial governor spokesperson, Abdullah Hasrat, confirmed the attack, adding one suicide bomber detonated his explosive packed vest at the gate of the bank while the rest launched a coordinated attack against the Afghan security forces in the area.
He added that the clashes ended after two hours when four of the assailants were killed.
A provincial health official told Ariana News that the provincial hospital has received two dead bodies and 29 people with injuries so far. He added that ambulances are still carrying some wounded people to the hospital.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
