Harsh Reactions to Death of Ariananews Reporter

Martyrdom of Ariana News reporter, Nematullah Zahir has followed widespread reactions.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, Chief Executive Officer, (CEO), Abdullah Abdullah, National Security Council and Human Rights Commission have strongly condemned this incident and offered their condolences to the family of the martyr, Ariana and Ariananews Networks.

Presidential Palace in a statement said, “Terrorists and Afghanistan’s enemies have once again approved that they do not believe in freedom of speech and do not hesitate to do inhuman actions to reach to their wicked targets. As they saddened the media community of the country by this incident. Nematullah Zahir worked in a difficult situation in Helmand and bravery informed his fellow citizens with the latest news. His death is a great loss for the media community.”

Chief Executive Officer sees Afghanistan shocked with this incident.

“We offer our condolences to the death of Nematullah Zahir, Ariananews reporter. We called serious attentions of the security forces for the safety of journalists, because they are also in forefront of the war,” said CEO, Abdullah Abdullah.

National Security Adviser, Hanif Atmar has considered the death of Zahir one of the sinister plans of the enemies and noted, “Freedom of Speech is a great achievement for Afghanistan which is under terror targets. The terrorists seek to weaken the spirit of freedom of speech heroes with these failed actions. We offer our deepest condolences to the testimony of the martyr Zahir.”

Tawab Ghorzang, spokesman of National Directorate of Security (NDS) has also said, “The Helmand war targeted a professional journalists who reported each moments of the province.”

The acting chief of Balkh province, Ata Muhammad Noor and Nasir Ahmad Durani, minister of Rural and Development have payed tribute to the death of Nematullah Zahir.

The Independent Directorate of Local Organs sent a message regarding to the death of Zahir.

“Terrorists are trying to prevent the freedom of speech by these actions but they cannot reach their goals and weakens the media outlets.”

Meanwhile, the Human Rights Commission links the death of Zahir to the inefficiency of the security institutions in providing the security of journalists.

“This incident relates to the inefficiency of security forces who failed to provide security.”

NATO has also saddened by this incident and offered condolences: “NATO has saddened by the death of Nematullah Zahir, Ariananews reporter and expressed sympathy to the family of Ariananews family. NATO praised Ariana and Ariananews networks for providing news stories in difficult conditions.”

Ariana News provincial reporter, Nematullah Zaheer was killed in an explosion in Lashkargah city of Helmand province of Afghansitan on Friday at 10:00 AM local time.
