Heavy avalanches blocks Salang Pass

Salang Pass Highway was blocked on Sunday night due to heavy snows.
General Mohammad Rajab, Salang Highway Maintenance Chief said,” avalanches blocked the road on traffic, the highway was blocked last night around 10:00 PM due to heavy storms”.
He added that the Pass was hit by five avalanches so far which fortunately had no causalities.
According to the officials the road will be blocked till end of Monday.
The Salang Highway is the only road that connects north and south Afghanistan almost all year round.
