Hekmatyar’s Speech Tone Was not Peaceful, More of Warfare: Pedram

National Congress party leader, Abdul Latif Pedram slammed Gulbuddin Hekmatyar’s recent remarks, said his comments were not for ensuring peace in Afghanistan.

Hezb-e-Islami leader Hekmatyar arrived in Kabul days ago with caravans carrying dozens of armed men.

Hekmatyar was welcomed by government officials at the Presidential Palace, where he called the Taliban “brothers” and criticized the structure of the National Unity Government as he said one of the leaders should resign.

“Hekmatyar’s remarks were not for ensuring peace, while returning to Kabul with 3-4 thousand armed men. His speech tone was not peaceful and seemed more of warfare,” Pedram said.

Pedram considered Hekmatyar’s keenness of having “centralized” government not responsive to the situation in the country.

The “unconditional” release of Hezb-e-Islami prisoners was the other issue as Pedram expressed his concerns. He described the decision against the rights of the people victimized by Hezb-e-Islami men.

“Peace should not be to violate the rights of others, the Human Rights organizations should pay attention to objections of Afghanistan citizens,” Pedram added.
