Hostile Judgments against National Hero Root from Humiliation: Abdullah

Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah says historic Afghan political figures should not be targeted with hostile judgments for gaining personal reputation.

Abdullah’s remarks apparently come after recent statement by Hezb-i-Islami leader, Gulbuddin Hekmatyar about “National Hero” Ahmad Shah Massoud, who reportedly accused Massoud of relations with Pakistan’s spy agency during the civil war in Afghanistan. 

Addressing the Council of Ministers meeting on Monday, the Chief Executive said that such “allegations” against Afghan national figures won’t solve the problems.

Abdullah further said Massoud had fought against Al-Qaida and he was the first victim of suicide attack.

 “Surely, the remarks which take root from humiliation will not harm the status of the martyrs,” he said. Adding that they will not achieve their goals and will not gain reputation by making such allegations.

Separately, the Chief Executive stressed that security is the biggest challenge in the country that facing prolonged conflict. He stated that with existing situation Afghan security forces need strong supports of the people.

“Security is the biggest challenge, and our forces give sacrifices on daily base to protect our people. Their performance should to be appreciated.”
