IEA welcomes World Bank report on Afghanistan’s economy

The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Office of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in a statement has welcomed the recent report of the World Bank on Afghanistan’s economic situation.

The statement has called on other international institutions to reflect the concrete realities of Afghanistan, like the World Bank.

“The report notes an upswing in Afghanistan’s exports in 2023 compared to the previous years, an appreciation of the afghani against foreign currencies, a reduction in prices, an uptick in revenue, and an increase in import volume, indicating enhanced purchasing power among the populace,” the statement read.

The World Bank report was published on January 31, 2024.
