IEDs kill 112 Afghans monthly: Barmak

Secretary of state to respond the disaster Wais Barmak has mentioned that improvised explosive devices IEDs kill 112 Afghans on monthly basis across the country, and the number of casualty is increasing.

Mr. Barmak has urged that there are  none exploded mines placed in 11570 villages in Afghanistan, which threat the life of the residents, saying insecurity has prevented de-miners to implement the programs in Afghanistan.

He has warned if the International community doesn’t provide 550 $ for the de-miners institutions, they will not meet their goals till 2023 “An Afghanistan out of mines”.

Based on the commitments that Afghanistan has made to International community it should clean 611 kilo meter from improvised explosive devices IEDsduring six years ahead.

Since 2010 in 248 mine explosions 78 de-miners have lost their life, 158 were injured, and 565 were kidnapped.

Secretary of State to respond the disaster Wais Barmak said,” We lose 112 Afghans on monthly basis in Afghanistan, due to improvised explosive devices IEDs.”

Meanwhile officials in United Nations Organization expressed concerns and insisted on their financial supports for an Afghanistan free of mines.

United Nation Special envoy to Afghanistan Mark Bowden said,” We are committed, we would like to work in Afghanistan to free it from mines till 2023, those countries which are the victims of mines should come together and work to free their countries from improvised explosive devices IEDs.”

Afghan Government has understood de mining programs are one of the most effective programs in the World which save the life of thousand Human beings in Afghanistan, the de-mining programs in Afghanistan has been implemented in 117 districts, and de-miners defused 19 million mines in the country.
