India approves $ 150 million for Chabahar port

Indian cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi cleared the USD 150 million project to develop the Chabahar port, which would give India a sea-land access route to Afghanistan bypassing Pakistan.

Chabahar Port lies outside the Persian Gulf in Iran and will help in expanding maritime commerce in the region.

The port enjoys great capacity for this purpose as Afghanistan and India are well aware of its importance.

Afghanistan Ministry of Commerce and Industry welcomed India’s action; citing with developing the Chabahar port, Afghanistan will have further improvements.

“If India invest in Chabahar port, its capacity will also become more and its very useful for Afghanistan’s economic.

Chabahar port is one of the nearest ways and good alternative for Afghan traders from dependence to other countries.

The Afghan authorities address Chabahar port as the best alternative of sea transit with plenty of facilities for Afghan and Iranian traders, investors.

Experts and law makers consider useful Chabahar port for both countries and the Afghan authorities should take practical steps for exploitation of this port economic, commercial potential in the benefit of Afghanistan economy.
