India Hands Over 2 Mi-35 Attack Helicopters to Afghan Air Force

India handed over two Mi-35 attack helicopters to the Afghan Air Force on Thursday, the Afghan Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

The Indian Ambassador to Afghanistan Vinay Kumar handed over the helicopters to the Afghan Minister of Defense Assadullah Khalid during a ceremony which was organized today, the statement said.

India says the helicopters will boost the Afghan Air Force’s capability and will enhance the Afghan forces effectiveness in combating terror.

During the ceremony, the Afghan Defense Minister thanked India for supporting Afghan forces during the last 17-years.

In addition, Minister Khalid praised the Afghan Air Force for their heroism in the fight against the Taliban insurgents.

Referring to the ongoing peace efforts, Khalid said that peace doesn’t mean surrendering to the enemies.
