Iran Announces Readiness to Help Afghanistan against Terrorists

In the fight against terrorism, Afghanistan is standing in the frontline, so Iran is ready to cooperate with Kabul in this regard, the Iranian foreign minister has pledged during his meeting with the Afghan President at the sideline of the Heart of Asia conference in India.

According to a statement released by the Afghan presidential palace, Ashraf Ghani the president of Afghanistan met with Javad Zarif the Iranian foreign minister on Sunday at the sideline of the Heart of Asia conference in Amritsar city of India.

The two sides have discussed about promotion of relations and economic cooperation between the two countries, the statement said.

Zarif has called terrorism and extremism as a joint threat for the countries in the region.

During the meeting, president Ghani has emphasized that for extension of trade and economy installation in Chabahar port must be developed rapidly. Adding a joint delegation must be appointed to take practical action on commitments made between Afghanistan and Iran.

Iran foreign minister has promised visit Afghanistan next month in order to find ways for practical action on commitments made between the two countries.

The Iran pledge of cooperation against terrorisms comes after the top commander of U.S. army and Resolute Support (RS) mission in Afghanistan denounced Russian and Iran during a Pentagon briefing on Friday, accusing the two country were “Legitimizing” the Taliban inside Afghanistan.
