Iran’s embassy in Kabul says a high-ranking Iranian delegation headed by Hassan Kazemi Qomi, Iran’s Ambassador and Special Representative to Afghanistan, is scheduled to arrive in Islamabad on Sunday.

The embassy said that the Iranian delegation will meet Asif Ali Durrani, Pakistan’s special representative in Kabul, and Jalil Abbas Jilani, the acting foreign minister of that country.

Earlier, the special representatives of Pakistan and Iran in Afghanistan and other senior officials of those countries, including Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdullahian, discussed the situation in Afghanistan.

Referring to the influential role of Tehran and Islamabad in the developments of the region and Afghanistan, the two sides have expressed hope that these talks can contribute to peace and stability in the region, especially in Afghanistan.

Both Islamabad and Tehran are worried about the use of Afghan soil against their countries.

Pakistan has always accused the Islamic Emirate of harboring groups such as the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

However, the Islamic Emirate has repeatedly denied this claim.

Qomi had also discussed the situation in Afghanistan with the Chinese ambassador in Kabul before traveling to Islamabad.

Earlier, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Amir Khan Muttaqi had also said that the meeting of special regional representatives on Afghanistan affairs will be held in Kabul.
