Iranian officials: Egg-laying chicken exports to Afghanistan up 15%

Iranian authorities have announced that the export of egg-laying chickens to Afghanistan has increased by 15 percent over the past year.

Hasan Azarian, the head of the veterinary medicine network in Taibad city of Khorasan Razavi province, has said that nearly 148,000 egg-laying chickens have been exported to Afghanistan through Islam Qala port during the past 11 months, IRNA news agency reported.

He added that the export of egg-laying chickens this year has increased by 15 percent compared to the same period last year.

Azarian stated that during the same period, 3,200 tons of eggs were exported through Islam Qala port, which shows a 23 percent increase compared to last year.

He added that 470,000 baby chickens were exported to Afghanistan

Azarian also stated that in the past 11 months, 3,018 tons of cow hides were imported from Afghanistan to Iran and Turkey in 151 shipments.

He added that 4,350 tons of sheep’s wool arrived in Iran, destined for China and Turkey.
