Iran’s Yazd Air has launched a new route between Tehran and Mazar-e-Sharif in northern Balkh province.

According to the Iranian consulate in Mazar-e-Sharif, flights started on Saturday.

The consulate also said that other Iranian airlines are expected to start flying to Afghanistan.

Earlier this month, Afghanistan’s ministry of transport and civil aviation announced that Air Arabia has started flying to Kabul.

This comes after foreign airlines suspended operations in August 2021, following the collapse of the former government. Until more recently, only two Afghanistan airlines were operating across the country and region. They were Ariana Afghan Airlines and Kam Air.

In separate news, Afghanistan’s ministry of transport and aviation has announced the launch of a new taxi service in Farah province and Birjand city in Iran.

The company behind the move is Kabul Caravan Hotak International Transport Company.
