More than half of the Afghan cabinet is still managed by caretakers, but officials say they will “soon” introduce the ministerial nominees to parliament for a vote of confidence.

“The nominated ministers will be introduced to parliament soon but there were some issues which caused the process to be delayed,” said Javed Faisal the Chief Executive Office deputy spokesman.

When Faisal was asked about the reasons for long-time delays, he responded that there were some issues in the Afghan parliament and inside the government.

The state minister for parliamentary affairs Ghulam Nabi Farahi has told that the government has already submitted a list of ministerial nominees and their relevant documents to the parliament.

While the administrative board of the lower house of parliament disputed the claim, saying we have not received any list..

“So far we haven’t received the official list of nominated ministers, we have called on the government to introduce all nominees at once,” said first deputy of the lower house Mohammad Nazir Ahmadzai.

About four months ago, President Ashraf Ghani promised that he will put an end to the issue of caretakers in the government institutions in six months, but so far he has failed to fulfill his commitment.
