The political tensions between Atta Mohammad Noor, the ousted governor of Balkh province, and the presidential palace are being resolved, Afghanistan’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah said Monday.

Speaking at the Council of Ministers meeting, the CEO said the chances of peace could increase with political unity.

Last week, President Ashraf Ghani’s office said the representatives of the two sides have reached very close to a final settlement, but Noor’s aides still denies to make a comment about the impasse.

At the same meeting, Abdullah expressed his disappointment over Taliban militant group not responding to Kabul peace offer. He said “Unfortunately, we don’t have the expected results”.

In addition, he confirmed that the Afghan security forces have inflicted casualties in Farah, Takhar, Faryab and Kunduz provinces of Afghanistan.
