Journalists Complaint over Lack of Access to Information in Provinces

More than sixty percent of journalists in various provinces of the country complaint over lack of access to information and siding by government officials.

Kabul Press Club describes the situation of journalists in provinces of the country critical due to the insecurity.

According to the findings of Kabul Press Club, Nangarhar, Ghazni, Bamyan and Kunduz were the best media colleagues in the last year.

Kabul Press Club has interviewed with nearly 400 journalists in 33 provinces of Afghanistan which their finding indicate that police commanders and governors are the main obstacles against accessing to information.

Head of Kabul Press Club, Aziz Ahmad Tasel said, “Unfortunately, there is no such a name as journalism in some of the provinces and journalists’ news sources are based on their relations. Governors even badly behave with journalists.”

President’s deputy spokesman, Dawa Khan Mina Pall emphasizes on cooperation of government with journalists and urged them to do not politically dead with the news. “Some of the administrative were formed for media services, but they turned into the political attitudes.”

CEO of Afghanistan Open Supporting Media-NAI, Sidiqullah Tawhidi said, “No journalists have the right to politically work. We are broadcasting the facts and political realities.”

While journalists complaint over lack of access to information that the access to information law was amended two and a half years ago, but this law has still not been implemented.
