Kabul police arrests 318 on various offenses

Kabul Chief of Police arrested nearly 318 people on various offenses including two Iranian nationals who were using fake money in the past three weeks.

Abdul Rahman Rahimi, Kabul Chief of Police says that in coordination with security forces, they have started serious efforts to detain suspects and reducing crimes.

“There is a general coordination that led us to succeed in arresting 318 people,” said Abdul Rahman Rahimi, Kabul Chief of Police.

The crimes of arrested suspects are as follow:

25 suspects on charges of murder in Kabul and districts.

42 suspects on charges of robberies in highways.

17 suspects on charges of robberies of houses in Kabul.

28 bandits and gunmen from the outskirts of Kabul and Sarobi district.

19 suspects on charges of stealing vehicles in Kabul and districts.

30 suspects on charges of pick-pocketing.

11 suspects on charges of unlicensed and illegal transfer of weapons.

43 suspects on charges of immorality.

65 suspects on charges of drug trafficking.

And thwarting 5 BM1 bullets and two magnetic mines from districts of Kabul city.

Crime in Afghanistan is present in various forms, and includes the following: corruption, contract killings or assassinations, kidnapping, drug trafficking, money laundering, black marketeering, and other ordinary crimes.

Unemployment among a large portion of the population and rudimentary basic services are major factors behind crime.

Other forms of crime include robbery as well as kidnappings and assault. Many riots have occurred in the country in response to various political and other issues.

Since the downfall of the Taliban, crime rate has significantly increased in the capital city Kabul. Armed robberies are regularly reported in the western districts of Kabul.
