Kabul police detained 277 suspects in past 20 days

At least 277 suspects have been arrested during the past 20 days in different parts of Kabul city and other districts of Kabul province, Kabul police said on Wednesday.

Kabul chief of police, Abdul Rahman Rahimi in a press conference said that the most of arrested suspects were the armed robbers and drug dealers in Kabul.

“We have arrested nearly 277 individuals on various criminal charges including kidnapping,” Abdul Rahman Rahimi, Kabul chief of police said.

Rahimi also noted about preventing several rocket attack on Kabul city in different parts of the province.

The criminal activities have increased tremendously in Kabul city. Everyday a criminal incident is reported.

Anyhow, the key reasons behind robberies and criminal activities in the Kabul city are high unemployment rate and poverty. Billions of dollars were spent to reconstruct the country but ended up to pockets of influential figures.

Thus, Afghan officials should develop closer relation with international community and neighboring countries in order to ensure that foreign support wouldn’t stop and the economy would continue to grow.
