Afghan security forces have rescued a child and detained three kidnappers in the capital Kabul, the Ministry of Interior said on Thursday.

The Interior Ministry said in a statement that police arrested three kidnappers last night from PD8 of Kabul City.

The kidnappers are identified as Shir Rahman, Sikandar, and Samiullah.

According to police, the individuals abducted the child from Joy Sheer area of Kabul around 45 days ago until they were arrested on Wednesday night.

Kidnapping for ransom has become more frequent in Afghanistan in recent years. Locals of all income levels are most often the targets, but foreigners have also been seized.

About a month ago, two kidnappers abducted a six-year-old girl in Kabul and killed her after they found that her family was unable to meet the demand of a ransom of $300,000.
