A delegation of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), led by Kandahar Governor Mullah Sherin Akhund, will travel to Pakistan for talks with authorities in Islamabad, a Pakistani newspaper reported.

Mullah Sherin is scheduled to meet senior Pakistani officials, and the primary focus of the discussions will revolve around addressing the issue of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

IEA says there is no final decision on the visit yet.

This comes as Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman, chief of Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam, a political party in Pakistan, on Monday said that he is likely to visit Afghanistan next week as he received an invitation from Kabul over the prevailing situation in Afghanistan.

“We share cultural and religious ties with them. We are one and that the atmosphere of mistrust between the two countries must end,” he said.

Islamabad’s relations with Kabul have deteriorated in recent months. Islamabad claims militants use Afghanistan soil in attacks against Pakistan, a charge Kabul denies.
