Kazakhstan Committed to Train Afghan Border Forces

Kazakhstan has committed to train and share experience with Afghan border forces, the National Security Council (NSC) said.

National Security Advisor (NSA) Mohammad Hanif Atmar, during his visit to Kazakhstan, met Beibut Atamkulov, defence and aerospace industry minister, a statement from the council said.

The Kazakh border police chief stressed the need for bilateral cooperation in preventing crimes on the shared borders, including infiltration of terrorists.

“Kazakh officials have committed cooperation in fight against  terrorism and training border forces. They supported peace and stability in Afghanistan and shared their joint view on fighting terrorism,” said Qader Shah, spokesman of NSC.

Hanif Atmar is suppose to visit Uzbekistan and talks on security and economic cooperation with Uzbek officials.

 “Afghanistan’s geographic location requires Central and East Asian countries to engage with the Afghan government to speak Afghan peace and progress,” said Asadullah Naeem, military analyst.

Kazakhstan has a pro-active actor in the world scene regards the situation in Afghanistan as a priority on its foreign policy agenda and exerts serious efforts to facilitate reconstruction in this country which plays a crucial role in the long-term security and stability in Central Asia.
