Key Taliban commander killed in Faryab

A key Taliban commander has been killed with four members in northern Faryab province of Afghanistan on Monday night.

A statement released by the Ministry of Interior of Afghanistan, said Afghan National Police drove back a Taliban attack over Qaysar district in Faryab province last night.

“Five armed Taliban were killed including a senior commander of armed Taliban named Mullah Kamal and seven other armed Taliban were wounded, while a group of armed Taliban attacked Afghan National Police check post in Qisar District of Faryab province,” the statement added.

According to the report no Afghan forces and civilian members were harmed during the clashes.

MoI Says the group was involved in many attacks over Afghan security forces checkpoints in the province.

Faryab is among the volatile provinces in north of Afghanistan where the anti-government armed-militants are actively operating in a number of its districts including Qaysar district.
