Kunduz Residents Can Return Home by Sunday: Azimi

Security officials in Kunduz National Directorate Security ( NDS) who led the war against Taliban in Kunduz have demanded the Kunduz residents to return home coming Sunday.

The commander of the National Directorate Security Response unit in Kunduz Mohammad Amin Azimi said,” We are in defending position, residents have left their houses which facilitate the operations to be launched for removing of Taliban from Kunduz city.”

He went on and said,” Kunduz residents can return home by coming two days, searching operations house to house are underway, we are trying to target the enemies by doing the searching houses, Taliban have hidden themselves in the houses and targeting Afghan security forces, evacuating of the residents have paved the way for Afghan security forces to launch the operations successfully.”

Meanwhile Commander of the NDS special forces Kabir Khan said,” Searching house to house operations is underway, we try not to the harm the civilians, our unit is standby and soon we will launch our operation for clearing the Taliban from Khakani area of Kunduz.”

One of the Afghan security forces in Kunduz war Eid Mohammad said,” I promise Kunduz residents to defeat their enemies, we will never accept to lose.”

This comes after that Taliban are still managing to hold out in the northern city of Kunduz as fighting there continues for the fifth day since the insurgents launched an all-out assault.

Kunduz security chief Gen. Qasim Jungalbagh has told to “ AP ” on Friday that government forces advanced overnight, pushing Taliban insurgents from residential areas in the east and west, Jungalbagh says five members of the security forces and three civilians were killed and another seven wounded.

The head of the provincial council, Mohammad Yusouf Ayubi, told to AP that people are continuing to leave for neighboring provinces.

Earlier U.N.’s humanitarian agency has warned of a looming humanitarian crisis as food and water run short.

The attack began Monday, a year after the insurgents overran the city.
