Lawmakers slam President Ghani over delays in law execution

Lawmakers accused President Ghani for violation of the law and criticized its foreign policy saying it lacks the basic lines therefore he has faced the country with a lot of challenges.

Abdul Rauf Ebrahimi, the House Speaker said,” I am addressing to the President, he must send the basic lines of the country’s foreign policy to the National Assembly as soon as possible. The first obligation of the President is to safeguard the law. The law for acting-officials and the population registration act have been approved and issued now it is the responsibility of the President to execute these laws.”

“The basic lines of the country’s foreign policy must be decided by the people and Loya Jirga, currently two power-sharing leaders are setting our basic lines without any consultation,” Abdul Rahman Rahmani, a representative of the lower from northern Balkh province of Afghanistan said.

Another member of the House asked the United States to take a clear action in regards to Pakistan and terrorism.

“We’re asking the United States to have a clear policy, they should either join with Pakistan or eliminate terrorism from Afghanistan,” MP Shir Wali Wardak said.

At the same time, a number of lawmakers accuse the national unity government leaders for weakness and express their concern regarding the current political, social, economical and security situation of the country.

“Kunduz war disappointed the people from the National Unity Government; the government is weak and reckless, properties of the people were looted, foreigners are also cheating us they transfer both Taliban and governmental forces on their planes,” MP Abas Ibrahimzada said.

Saleh Mohammad Saleh an MP from Kunar province has also harshly criticized the President, said: “President Ghani, I’m calling on you, the people voted for you, the history will write against you”.

These statements come as the NUG has passed more than one year of its life without having basic lines of foreign policy.
