Lawyers Union Accuses IEC of Breaching Law
Lawyers Union of Afghanistan has declared illegal the final result of Presidential Election which is going to be announced probably this week by the election commission.
The lawyers on Sunday accused the IEC commissioners of incompetence and demanded the commissioners to resign from their positions.
“The final result which is going to be announced by the election commission is totally illegal and against the constitution,” union head Abdul Ghayoor Ghayoor said.
“The election commission itself has no legitimacy and their all members must resign.”
Pointing to the political negotiations continued between Abdullah and Ahmadzai, Ghayoor called on both the candidates to immediately form a government of national unity.
This comes as the election commission is going to announce the final result of Presidential Election probably this week while Abdullah’s camp has been insisting not to announce the result prior to their political deal.
