Lower House Rejects Istanikzai to Be Defence Minister

The Nominated Defence Minister of the Government has been rejected by the lower house of the parliament, by receiving 84 confirmation votes, out of 107 votes.

That means he should have received 107 votes out of 213 members votes.

Speaker of the house Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi has demanded the President Ghani to introduce the fourth Defence Minister for receiving confidence votes from the house as soon as possible.

Defence Minister candidate Masoum Istanikzai while explaining his priority programs for the law maker in the lower house of the parliament has said,” in first step will try to bring our war from the villages level,and i will establish a political gathering in National, Regional and International level to remove the ongoing problems in Afghanistan.”

After he explained his programs the voting process began, there were 213 members of representatives present at the session, Mr. Istanikzai should have received 107 confidence votes but failed to be the Defence Minister.

Confirmation votes : 84

Rejection votes: 18

Blank Votes: 7

Earlier Shir Mohammad Karimi, had been introduced to the parliament for receiving the confidence votes,after Afzal Ludin was nominated as the first Defence Minister who later rejected to be the Defence Minister himself.
