M6.6 earthquake jolts Afghanistan

A powerful earthquake with magnitude 6.6 jolted Afghanistan this afternoon around 03:00 pm (local time).

The US Geological Survey (USGS) reported that the center of the quake was Feyzabad the provincial capital of Badakhshan province of Afghanistan.

The quack was felt in most of the provinces of Afghanistan and reportedly in parts of Pakistan and India.

The quake had a depth of 210km and took pace 39km from the town of Ashkasham, Afghanistan.

Kabul terrified inhabitants fled their homes and offices as buildings swayed. Television footage showed people praying in public.

There have been no reports of injuries or damage so far.
