Many government officials not holding themselves “accountable” for the decisions of Ministers council meeting chaired by Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah.

Speaking at the council of ministers meeting on Monday, Abdullah warned of taking “serious” actions against ministers who are negligent and reluctant to participate in the meeting.

He said ignorance of Chief Executive Office’s decisions is not “tolerable” and the ministers should participate in the weekly council of ministers meeting, pointing the Defense and Interior Ministers as exceptions.

Abdullah, however, admitted that the government is not able to be accountable for the nation, referring to the recent violence and protest in capital Kabul.

“As leaders of National Unity Government, we should admit that we did not perform the work and services for the people as they deserved,” he said.

Chief Executive further said that the gap between political blocs and the Afghan people is rare since last 15 years, and “it remains to be seen, what should be done to make it least.”

Earlier, CE Abdullah had criticism over implementation of the agreement made with President Ashraf Ghani for the formation of National Unity Government, but this was for the first time that he lashed out at some government officials and criticized them of negligence.
