The sexual harassment of more than 500 students in Logar Province became a leading story in the national and foreign news media. The case has generated widespread reactions from governmental officials and citizens.

Afghanistan’s  Attorney General, as well as the nation’s Human Rights Commission, and the House of Representatives have launched separate investigations of the Logar case. Maryam Sama, a member of the lower house, was part of the investigating team developed by The House of Representatives. However, the Head of the House of Representatives removed Sama from the investigation team.

“There was a case in Logar, and I proposed to build an investigating team that was eventually built, Maryam Sama said. “At the last minute, they took my name out of the last minute by the CE of the lower house. I want people to ask the Chair of the House the reason why I am not a part of the team anymore,” Sama said.

In the meantime, the investigating team from the House has not reached a conclusion in its investigation. This development comes as the Human Rights Commission stressed that there are individuals related to the case who should be prosecuted.

The investigations of the Attorney General are ongoing.
