Members of electoral commissions will select and launch work by the end of the current week, President’s deputy spokesman said.

President’s deputy spokesman said the leaders of National Unity Government has made this decision after consultation with political leaders.

“The list will be finalized within the current week and the new members will begin works; President and CEO have consulted with political leaders,” said Shah Hussain Murtazawi, President’s deputy spokesman.

However, the electoral observing institution are said to believe that the differences between president and CEO will not allow the electoral commissions to launch works.

“There is a problem, it has been three months that the president and Chief Executive have not reached to an agreement,” said Naeem Ayoub Zada, head of Free and Fair Election Foundation of Afghanistan.

While some of other electoral institutions emphasize on start of works by the new members.

“A small part of the reforms has been implemented, the new managers must maintain their neutrality to regain the lost credibility,” said Shah Mahmood Mal, member of Afghanistan Election Observing Mission.

After months of delay, a selection committee formed for electoral reforms, but people are waiting for more steps to be taken on reforms.
