Minister Admits Corruption in MoI, Says Efforts Ongoing for its Eradication

The Minister of Interior admits that there is corruption in the ministry, but stresses efforts are ongoing for its eradication.

The minister of Interior, Taj Muhammad Mujahed noted that the most corruption exist in logistic and department of fighting corruption in this ministry.

“We understand the concerns of the government, people and the donor countries. Corruption exist in our administrative but we are trying our best to eradicate them,” said Interior Minister Mujahed.

The existence challenges in the departments of the Interior Ministry submits in lists to the annual reports of the ministry.

“Unfortunately, the drug trafficking increased by ten percent compared to the last year which is alarming,” said deputy minister of fighting corruption department in MoI.

This comes as President Ghani has previously called the Ministry of Interior as the heart of corruption among the security institutions.
